Lince — Privacy policy
Last updated: 11 October 2026 · App: Lince (Android, package com.kodalab.antiburla) · Publisher: Kodalab · Contact: web@kodalab.pt · Português
In short
The messages you check are analysed on your phone and never sent to us. No account. The app does not read your SMS, calls or contacts: it only sees what you choose to paste or share into it.
On your phone only
- Messages you analyse and the history of analyses (you can turn the history off or delete it in the app).
- Family mode: the family code word is stored only as a salted one-way hash; the trusted contacts (name and number you type) stay on the phone. Calling them opens your phone's dialer; the app has no call permission.
- Screenshots you choose are read on the phone (Google ML Kit on-device text recognition, model bundled with the app).
- Academy progress, emergency checklist, settings. Uninstalling the app deletes all of it.
What goes to our server (kodalab.pt), and only when you ask
- Online link check (button «Check links online»): the link address is sent to our server, which asks Google Web Risk whether it is known to be dangerous and asks the public domain registry (RDAP) how old the domain is. We do not store the link: results are kept briefly in memory to answer repeated questions, and we only keep a daily count of how many checks were made. Google receives the link from our server, not from your phone, and does not receive your IP address.
- Anonymous scam reports: only what you confirm on the report screen — the country, the type of scam, the reported number or link of the scammer, and a short excerpt you reviewed (the app removes e-mails, card numbers and IBANs, and asks you to remove names). We do not store your number, IP address, device identifier or exact time (only the day). Reports are used to show aggregated statistics in the app; a link domain is only shown if reported at least twice.
- Official alerts: the app downloads the alert list for your country (no identifier is sent). If you allow notifications, the phone checks once a day and shows a local notification.
Our server uses your IP address only in memory to limit abuse (how many requests per minute); it is not written to disk or logs.
Advertising
The app is free, with no purchases, and shows Google AdMob ads only in the Academy, the Alerts list and the history list — never on analysis results, family warnings, the emergency guide or setup. A full-screen ad may appear after finishing an Academy round, and you may choose to watch an ad to unlock the hardest Academy pack for the day. When consent allows it, AdMob may collect the advertising ID, approximate location from the IP address, device information and ad interactions. In the EEA and the UK you are asked first with Google's consent form; you can change your choice in Settings. Ads never see the messages you check. See how Google uses information from apps that use its services.
Results are indicative
Lince gives an indicative assessment based on known warning signs. It can be wrong and does not replace your bank or the authorities.
Audience
General audience; not directed at children.
Your rights
